təməsew̓txʷ Aquatic & Community Centre, New Westminster

Once commissioned, the təməsew̓txʷ Aquatic & Community Centre solar project will be the largest grid-tied photovoltaic energy system Hakai Energy has delivered to date. This magnificent community showcase of climate action, consists of (555) 540W solar modules, which combined produce a total peak system capacity of 300kW dc.

Construction has been completed on the solar photovoltaic array on the east and west roofs of the təməsew̓txʷ Aquatic & Community Centre in the City of New Westminster, BC. Ample roof space, a significant amount of electrical load, large electrical distribution system, and the fact that it is a long-term community asset makes the community centre an ideal hosts for a solar PV array.
Once commissioned, the təməsew̓txʷ Aquatic & Community Centre solar project will be the largest grid-tied photovoltaic energy system Hakai Energy has delivered to date. This magnificent community showcase of climate action, consists of (555) 540W solar modules, which combined produces a total peak system capacity of 300kW dc.

This large energy generation system is grid connected with the City of New Westminster’s Electrical Utility, allowing New West to now, not only manage their electrical utility, but also add local generation to their energy mix. The solar delivery on the roof of the community centre, has been a piece of the larger project to renovate the previous Canada Games Pool, to the newly named təməsew̓txʷ Aquatic & Community Centre for the community of New Westminster. This space, will offer significant improvement to the historical recreation amenities offered by the Canada Games Pool. The təməsew̓txʷ Aquatic & Community Centre will now be home to pools, fitness centres, community spaces, and accessible recreation activities. Hakai was proud to be part of this project, and congratulates the City of New Westminster on their progressive infrastructure upgrades.
