Hakai Helps Power Mt. Cain with Solar
This September, Hakai Energy Solutions joined forces with the Mt. Cain Alpine Society to bring renewable energy to the mountain. With grant funding covering materials, our team volunteered their time to design and install new off-grid solar and battery systems at the resort’s ticket booth and two rental cabins.
The ticket booth is now powered by four 505W solar modules, supported by four 6V/420Ah batteries and a small generator for backup. The cabins each received a system with six 500W solar modules and six 6V/420Ah batteries, providing reliable off-grid power for lights and basic amenities.
The project took place during Mt. Cain’s annual volunteer work party and AGM, where people from across the community pitch in to prepare the hill for the upcoming season. It was a fitting backdrop for our crew—staff, family, and friends—who contributed their skills to reduce the resort’s reliance on generators and expand clean energy at this volunteer-run ski hill.
