$5000 Canada Greener Homes Grant Now Available

June 2, 2021

On May 27th, the federal government announced the Canada Greener Homes Grant which allows Canadian homeowners to apply for grants of up to $5000 to make their homes more energy-efficient.

The grant covers renewable energy systems and ‘resiliency measures’ that protect homes and families from environmental damages. This could include a photovoltaic solar panel system and a solar energy battery bank or Tesla Powerwall to provide standby power for your home.

Up to 700,000 Canadian homeowners, anywhere in the country, are eligible for renewable energy grants of up to $5,000 for solar energy systems and up to an additional $600 to support the cost of an EnerGuide home energy evaluation.

To apply/qualify for the grant, homeowners are required to have a home energy assessment completed by an accredited energy advisor. Based on the outcomes of this assessment, some funding may be possible. Up to $600 is also available to cover some or all of the cost of the assessment.
